A delightful vintage Huntley and Palmer biscuit tin. This one dates from 1932 and is called the Chocolate Riveria.

"Rectangular tin with a Mediterranean scene on the lid, featuring mountains, the sea and a couple in summer clothes. The woman is painting the scene. The foliage of the trees is gold coloured. The sides have coastline scenes.
The gold effect on the trees gives this sunny scene an added glitter. Chocolate biscuits were first made my Huntley & Palmers in 1912, but it was not until the 1920s that significant production took place. Throughout the pre-World War Two period chocolate covered biscuits were very much a luxury item. Consumption of such items was, even for many middle class families, confined to Christmas or other celebrations. The Chocolate Department was often considered to be the most prestigious department to work in at the Reading Biscuit Factory! This tin, with its wealthy young couple and gold finishing, reflects the status of its contents."

Other than some very minor scratches, the outside is very clean. The inside is a bit scruffy.
